What happened in the opening episode?
In the opening episode of Edge of Darkness, policeman Ronald Craven is going to pick up his daughter from a political conference and her high school. When he takes her home he is confronted by a man with a shotgun, he then goes to shoot Craven but she jumps in the way to protect him. Later on in the episode when Craven in is her room looking through all of her stuff he finds a box with a Geiger counter and a gun. He the uses the device and finds out that everything is covered in radiation. When at the morgue earlier on he takes a cut of some of her hair, which he hen tests with the Geiger counter and sees that it is the most radiated thing there. He then travels up to London to be of further help to the case. When there, he is contact by a man named Pendalton who is 'attached to the prime ministers office and informs Craven that his daughter was considered a terrorist ad the she was the target that night, not him.
