E4 is owned by channel 4 who are a  which was launched in January 2001. Channel 4 is a public funded and has been since it launched in 1981  and is independent from the government.so it has been running for 14 years. E4 shows a whole host of different shows such as The Inbetweeners, The Big Bang Theory, Skins and Friends until it stopped being produced. Main target  audience is from the ages of 18-25 and the demographic reflects that. Also the majority of people who watch E4 are Female as the chart shows that it is 59% women and 41% men, and as these shows are aimed at that audience E4 are meeting their Primary Audience as they are the ones who are watching the shows they broadcast. E4 is owned by Channel 4, which is the parent company of not only E4, but also of other channels such as Film4; which is a TV service that provides films constantly through the day, Kerrang!; which is a music channel aimed at the same age group as E4 and 4Music; whic is a service that shows popular music videos on a constant stream through the day, as these music videos are part of the mainstream the audience is quite young as this is the kind of music that they listen too.

E4 also have in between their shows, E-stings which are short animated clips that have the E4 logo in them. These are E4's ident, which is the way of identifying the channel. For example iPhones have the Apple logo on them which is a constant reminder of what make your phone is. E4 hae the same kind of idea where in between shows they have indents which are a constant reminder of what TV channel you are watching.

This is my first example of an e-sting, as you can see it's quite crude in humor as it shows a man throwing up an arm which turns the TV on which then shows on the TV. This e-sting is definitely aimed at the Primary audience as the animation and subject are quite grown up. I say this because if you look at something like Bojack Horseman, which is quite a grown up cartoon, it uses the same style of animation, which again will attract the Primary Audience.

Again this e-sting is aimed at the Primary Audience as its using two animals that have become viral on the internet as the two characters in the e-sting which will again attract the targeted audience. But it has quite a different feel as this one is a little bit more comedic with the cat sticking it's tongue out which has the E4 logo on it.

As my final one I have chosen this one as it is quite unique as its not animated. It's of a hologram of the E4 logo in a  glass container. It's shown from lots of different camera angles and distances. This kid of ident would appeal to most people as there isn't really a genre. But it is quite futuristic so would again be more appealing to the Primary Audience.

My favorite ident would have to be the final on I chose as it's very unique and uses CGI very cleverly.

We have started to do a lot of work with real animation techniques to help prepare us fr the task in hand. such as using old animation toys and also using lego to create a short animation again to help us to understand what is involved in making an animation.

This is my practice animation that I made with Lego.

At the moment I am leaning towards make my e-sting with plastercine as it is the most malleable substance that we can use and I ave quite a few ideas on what i want my e-sting to involve and also how i would like it done. I would have done it with Lego but i feel like I would be restricted as it is copyrighted so that would prove as quite a challenge trying to get E4 to accept that purely because of the copyright issues.

This is the live action animation that I have just completed. E4 Rules and Regulations E4 rules and regulations

  1. You have planned a response to a specified brief by looking into the client (C4 & E4) and its existing audience and you have shown creativity in your idea, evident through the pre-production paperwork. You have not uploaded your details on soundtrack, sets and characters which is needed.
