EXt. garden party. night

JAKE is sitting in a garden chair with his mates MARTIN and DAVID. JAKE is looking across the garden at a girl he'd seen around college.

Martin

Go on then

JAKE

(trying to act like he is confused)

What?

MARTIN

C'mon man really? You like her don't you?

JAKE

(still trying to act confused)

Who?

DAVID

Stop bullshitting man go talk to her.

JAKE

I still don't know what you're going on about...

MARTIN

So you won't mind if I go get her then?

Jake

(giving in)

Alright, fine, have it your way.

MARTIN and DAVID sit back in their chairs with smug looks on their faces. While JAKE walks over to BETH who is talking to her friends.

JAKE

Hey

Beth

(Smiles)

JAKE

This place is a dump right?

BETH

Yeah it is (laughing)

JAKE

So, what are you doing saturday?

BETH

Why do you ask?

JAKE

I, erm, do you wanna, oh i dunno

BETH

(smiling)

Yeh, ok

JAKE

What?

beth

Well, you did just try to ask me out didn't you?

BETH waits for JAKE to say something but he looks at the floor and says nothing.BETH starts to walk away looking unimpressed at the fact he didn't admit to asking her out. He then realises why she's leaving.

jake

(shouts at her)

Beth, wait up

BETH stops and turns around still looking  dissapointed and JAKE looks straight at her

jake

Look, I've liked you for a while time now, and I haven't had the balls to ask you out.

BETH looks at him with narrowed eyes

Jake

(cont'd)

Say something

Beth

You had your chance and you couldn't even admit to liking me when I asked you.

BETH continues to walk away, JAKE stands there watching her go back to her friends.

MARTIN

(sarcasticly)

Well that went well

JAKE

Yep

MARTIN

Nevermind, can't win 'em all

DAVID

What happened?

MARTIN

Seriously?

DAVID
Nah seriously I was looking at Megan's arse

MARTIN

Wow, just, wow

DAVID

So what happened then?

MARTIN hits DAVID in the arm they then all walk off to get a beer.
