George Lucas

George Lucas is the writer and director on the Star Wars franchise. The whole idea came straight out of his head so was, at the time completely original. The only thing even close to this idea was the Star Trek franchise which started 11 years earlier than the first Star Wars movie. The only film out of the Star Wars saga that people argue about is The Empire Strikes Back as hardcore fans say that George Lucas didn't technically direct this particular film, instead it was Irvin Keshner which is regarded as the best of them all. George Lucas and his new franchise were at the forefront of VFX in the 70s and pretty much owned the merchandise world and took the planet by storm.  practically invented special effects, and took the world of film merchandising by storm.
