I chose this script because it has elements in it that i would like to use in mine own, for example, there is, in this script a criminal who has become apparent to the police and that they want to find him as quickly as possible so he can't do anymore damage. This is an element that i shall be exploring within my script. The characters in this ar e very well developed and give a good insight into their lives and all the characters in the script give good input into the final product as they all have relevance to the story. The dialog in this script doesn't seem forced, it seems to be very fluid and it all makes sense to do with the main story. It is written in a way that you can imagine the characters saying their lines because the lines sound and read naturally. Also, reading this script, you can tell the direction it's heading, as it has purpose and doesn't story from the main narrative and doesn't waffle.
I chose this short film because it shares a lot of ideas with my scripts and contains technical features that i would like to use in my short. At the beginning for example, ther is a lot of mystery between the two characters and i would like to have such an idea in my short as i would like the criminals to be very illusive. Later on, the police are involved and there is clever use of text showing the police conversation over the radio whilst in the background you can hear cars revving their engines to act out a car chase, again this is an element that i would consider when making my short.
As badly as this is filmed, the actually discussions between the two detectives reflect how i would like my discussions between the detective and the captain to go, as they go over the case of a young girls death. Although the outcome of this video is very different to how i want mine to and there are lots of aspects that i would like to include in my short. Another of these would be how professional they are about the case in hand and how they go about pursuing the criminal.
Demographically i would like to aim this film at a younger audience as there aren't many crime films aimed at a younger audience as when i did my questionnaire i found out that most young people have no interest in most existing crime films as they are almost always aimed at a more mature audience and use older actors instead of newer ones. There are a few exceptions such as the newer Sherlock Holmes movies and the TV series, as well as the Sweeney movie. I would like to also aim it at an equal male and female audience.
